GEORGE PLAUTZ is returning to Wasatch after a three-year hiatus creating a drama program for a high school in Nanjing, China and another year paused due to the pandemic. He has been writing, acting, directing and producing for the theatre for more than 40 years - 20 of them with Wasatch. A few of his favorites with Wasatch were Grey Gardens as director, Stories of Hawaii as playwright and Hands Up as playwright/lyricist and director. He helped create Bookspeak Theatre Company and The Starry-Eyed Puppets which performed in numerous locations in the greater Salt Lake area. Before going to China, George retired as director of the English Language Institute at the University of Utah where he directed more than 75 productions with his ESL students. Most recently for Wasatch he performed in Happy and wrote a play for last year's virtual Fringe Festival which was named best in its category. He has been chosen for a month-long residency at the Writer's Colony at Dairy Hollow, Arkansas to work on a new musical.
VALERIE AHANONU is a wellness-based entrepreneur, life coach and lover of the arts. She began her professional acting career with Wasatch Theater Company’s Page to Stage Festival and Cabaret After Dark in 2010 and continued on to work in People Production's RUINED in 2011. She continues to explore her creative pursuits through
impromptu theater, singing and voice over opportunities, course work with the American Conservatory Theater and the Yat Bentley method, as well as through comedy and music.
An Idaho native, MELODY BAUGH called NYC home for several years and has recently relocated back to Utah. Favorite roles: Grace (ANNIE), Dorothy (THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE), Vi Moore (FOOTLOOSE), Lola (DAMN YANKEES). Melody has performed locally with Sundance, Pioneer Theatre, Hale Theatre, and Parker theatre. Melody traveled for many years singing for AIDA, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She spent two year singing at Tokyo Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan and loved learning to cook a bit of Japanese food while there. BFA graduate of Brigham Young University. www.melodybaugh.com
SALLIE COOPER has been addicted to theatre for most of her life. She taught high school theatre, and has performed with many theatre companies in Salt Lake City. Some of her favorite roles include Abby Brewster in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, Mattie Faye in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, Big Edie in GREY GARDENS, Quiser in STEEL MAGNOLIAS, and Dotty in NOISES OFF. You may have seen her at Hale Center Theatre as Mrs. Bumble in OLIVER, Miss Pross in A TALE OF TWO CITIES, Yente in Fiddler on the Roof, Miss Flannery in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, Gay Wellington in YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, and 8 seasons in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Sallie has a BFA in Theatre/Education from the University of Utah.
